Assay Results For Hole: A-07-49 20.19 Meters Grading 11.41% Zinc, 2.24% Lead,15.36 G/T Silver From 100% Owned Akie Property, B.C.

Vancouver, B.C. –January 7, 2008 – Mantle Resources Inc. (TSX Venture: MTS; Frankfurt: AOF7E1) (the “Company”) is pleased to report the following assay results for hole A-07-49, the seventh hole completed in 2007 on the zinc-lead bearing Cardiac Creek Zone (CCZ) mineralization at its 100% owned Akie property, in northeastern British Columbia, approximately 260 kilometers north-northwest of the town of Mackenzie.

Significant Expansion of the CCZ – intercept delivers 13.65% Zn+Pb over 20.19 metres

The true width of the mineralization is estimated to be approximately 78% of the core interval, but is subject to revision.

The intercept in hole A-07-49 is located approximately 170 meters updip from the high-grade mineralization encountered in hole A-05-30 (34.05 meters grading 11.87% zinc and 2.83% lead) and represents a significant expansion of the CCZ. At present, the CCZ continues to be open updip, and to the north and south along strike, from this hole.

Assays received to date from key holes from the 2007 drilling program are summarized below.

“We are very pleased by the high grades encountered in hole A-07-49, given that it is located a considerable distance updip (170 metres) from hole A-05-30, which also returned a wide intercept of high-grade zinc+lead. Clearly, this confirms that the CCZ mineralization remains open towards the surface in this area. The previous wide spaced drilling up to 600 metres apart on strike (conducted by Inmet) indicates there is significant geological potential for additional expansion beyond that defined to date by our own drilling,” commented Jim Mustard , President of Mantle.

Assay results have also been received for hole A-07-46, an exploratory scout hole collared some 250 meters northwest of A-07-42 (the nearest hole) designed to test the continuation of the CCZ to the northwest. Two mineralized horizons were encountered, an upper and lower, separated by approximately 14 meters, comprised of a wide lower grade section, followed by a higher grade interval. A similar situation is observed in other holes located in this northerly part of the zone drilled to date.

“Although hole A-07-46 may have been drilled updip of the targeted mineralization, it is highly significant that we are still encountering mineralization far to the northwest (A-07-46 is approximately 500 metres northwest of hole A-07-49). We believe the CCZ continues to be open downdip and to the north along strike in this area,” stated Mr. Mustard.“With the CCZ demonstrating substantive further exploration potential and with our commanding land position in the Kechika district, Mantle is well positioned for an exciting 2008 exploration season. We are well advanced in the planning for our 2008 program and expect to provide a scope of work in the coming weeks.”

Assay Samples and Procedures

All core selected for analysis is split by diamond saw and sampled, with a maximum of 1.5 meters of core in each sample. These are placed in plastic bags, shipped in secure containers to Acme Analytical Laboratories Ltd., Vancouver, B.C., and there subjected to aqua regia digestion followed by ICP-ES and ICP-MS analysis (Acme Group 7AX Multi-Element Assay) to determine zinc, lead and silver content. Standards and blanks are inserted into the assay stream at a rate of about one of each for every 25 core samples. Check assays are regularly carried out by Global Discovery Labs, also in Vancouver , employing aqua regia digestion followed by atomic absorption finish (Group 4).

About the Akie Property

The Akie zinc-lead property is situated within the southern-most part (Kechika Trough) of the regionally extensive Paleozoic Selwyn Basin, one of the most prolific sedimentary basins in the world for the occurrence of SEDEX zinc-lead-silver and stratiform barite deposits.

Drilling on the Akie property by Inmet Mining Corporation during the period 1994 to 1996 and by Mantle in 2005, 2006 and 2007 has identified a significant body of baritic-zinc-lead SEDEX mineralization (Cardiac Creek Zone). The deposit is hosted by variably siliceous, fine grained clastic rocks of the Middle to Late Devonian ‘Gunsteel Formation.

Two similar deposits, Cirque and South Cirque, located some 20 kilometers northwest of Akie and owned under a joint venture by Teck Cominco and Korea Zinc, are also hosted by Gunsteel rocks and have a combined geologic inventory in excess of 50 million tonnes averaging approximately 10% combined zinc+lead.
