Vancouver, B.C. - May 17, 2007 – Mantle Resources Inc. (TSX Venture: MTS; Frankfurt: AOF7E1) (‘Company’ or ‘Mantle’), with joint venture partners Shear Minerals Ltd (TSXV:SRM), International Samuel Exploration Corp. (TSXV:SAZ), and New World Resources Corp. (TSXV:NW), wishes to announce that a $1,200,000 exploration program has been approved for the Afridi Lake Diamond Project (“the Afridi Project”) located in the Slave Geological Province of the Northwest Territories, 320 km northeast of Yellowknife.

The Afridi Project is comprised of 56,000 acres of claims and mineral leases within the world class Lac de Gras Diamond District and adjoins both the DIAVIK Diamond Mine and the WO claims which host the DO-27 kimberlite.  The Afridi Project is host to five known diamond bearing kimberlites and there are more than 40 known kimberlites within 40 kilometers of the Project. Shear Minerals Ltd. holds a 58.2% interest in the Afridi Project and is the operator.  International Samuel has a 25.4% interest and New World Resources and Mantle Resources each hold 8.2%.

The exploration program will consist of two stages and is scheduled to commence in late June to early July:

Completing an airborne gravity survey at the Afridi Project will evaluate the property with leading edge geophysical techniques that can be overlaid with existing geophysical data sets.  This region hosts a number of economic kimberlites and the Afridi Project has not been subjected to systematic exploration in a few years.
